Let me give you a little bit of a history lesson...
But first, I'll tell you about this thing we do called Tear it Down Collective.
Tear it Down is a non-profit, non-capitalist, non-racist, non-homophobic, non-meat, non-idiot organisation. We are a rogue, independant media node. By creating a stonghold for independent viewpoints in the form of blogs, zines, and related audio,  we are hell-bent on the idea of exposing the world's fucking morons for the express purpose of giving them the middle finger.

Many of you are asking, “Yes, but what is it you actually do?”. In response, I say "Many things!". “Be more specific” you demand. “Okay” I reply and direct you to the next paragraph.

We record and host the long running Tear It Down Podcast. Previous attempts at this have gone terribly, but we endeavour to improve, with interview guests from local activist resources and organisations which interest us.

We also (reluctantly) take part in the recording and dissemination of audio signals. We sometimes record bands, and have been employed to build well-functioning websites and CD packaging as evidenced on our multimedia page. Get in touch if you are interested.

Recently, we've taken to recording local guest activists and speakers for distribution on the internet with the intention of spreading the word about local and national causes. These spoken word lectures by people with far more experience than any of us here are an awesome resource.

We also help out our buddy Dan and Iron Fisted Champion Promotions to put on DIY touring bands, usually at the Star and Shadow Cinema in Newcastle.

We like to think we run things with balanced job complexes, in a participatory  manner, but that is really not true. It makes us feel better though. We honestly believe that hierarchies and inequitable divisions of labour are replete with crap. No shit. Fuck bosses. In addition to the perfunctory rhetoric, we're actually trying to define and put into practice the values that we think would be fundamental to the kind of world that we'd really like to live, work and get laid in (ha.). It seems to us that the conception and management of one's own (economic) efforts is fundamental to realizing that kind of world.

Only by appreciating the interdependence of issues facing the left can coherent visions of progressive change be developed. We particularly wish to promote constructive visions of a better society and work that discusses the tactical and strategic choices required to achieve them. Toward this end, the project seeks to encourage organisations, authors, activists and scholars to share their knowledge and experience with others in the UK activist community.

Liberal, free-thinking and definitely not full of shit, we embark on our maiden voyage across the seas of bullshit, with no clue as to what adventure awaits over the horizon. One thing's for sure, it doesn't smell good… oh wait that's just me. Oh well...
